Introduction

Department of Paediatrics caters to the whole range of paediatric patients (new born till adolescent) by providing the best of medical, psychological and rehabilitation facilities under one roof.

We have a team of dedicated faculties working towards imparting excellent & thorough knowledge to our under-graduate and post-graduate students.

We have well-equipped infrastructure with advanced equipment for providing level III tertiary care to our patients.

Services provided

We have facilities for indoor management of critically ill new-borns and older children.as well as indoor and outdoor management of general paediatrics illness. We run speciality clinics for children suffering with chronic ailments. We have occupational therapy centre serving for specially-abled children. Our department also has Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) attached to our wards.

Being a part of a teaching hospital, we routinely teach undergraduate and postgraduate students may it be a clinical bedside teaching or classroom teaching. We always try to perform our best to foster knowledge, skills and attitude among our students.

Facilities

The Department of Pediatrics has adequate infrastructure, equipment and human resources for management of children from birth to 18 years of age.

Intensive care & other facilities

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – 30 beds + 15 bed KMC(100% Bed Occupancy rate)

NICU at GMERS MC and Hospital, Gotri offers care to Inborn and out-born sick neonates from the referring centres of Vadodara and nearby districts. We provide level III neonatal intensive care including invasive neonatal ventilation, exchange transfusion, surfactant administration etc. Patients are provided all facilities free of cost under various governmental schemes like PMJAY, JSSK. We have Pediatric cardiology, services attached to our department under CM Setu scheme, and we provide free of cost diagnostic and screening cardiology facilities.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – 10 beds (100% Bed Occupancy rate) 

The PICU is well equipped to serve the necessity of the surrounding areas. At our centre, children with critical problems are treated free of cost. We are well equipped with high end equipment like ventilators , vital signs monitors and Haemodialysis. We manage illnesses like septicaemia, respiratory distress or failure, status epilepticus, coma, poisoning, trauma, cardiac, renal and multisystem failure. on a routine basis.

Additional qualifications and trainings

All faculties are trained in Medical Education. We have Neonatal Fellows as faculties, posted in NICU. Their added qualification is helpful to serve our neonatal patients with recent and update therapeutic protocols. One of our faculty has undergone Pediatric hematology fellowship, again her training helps to serve the patient better with speciality needs. All faculties are trained in courses like Basic NRP, Advance NRP, PALS, BLS, etc.

Our department regularly conducts all the important events or national/international days pertaining to child health, like world breastfeeding week, ORS day, Poshan Maah, Thalassemia day, etc.

FBNC class room and training conducted round the year for Medical Officers and Nurses.

Awards & Achievements

We have attained state accreditation for musQaan Assessment with 93% score and are in process of applying for National accreditation.
