Institutional Hospital Ethics Committee (IHEC)

Research plays a crucial role in medical education, introducing students to evidence-based medicine and enhancing their competitiveness for residency programs. The Institute encourages undergraduate students to enroll in Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Short-Term Studentship (STS) Program. The program helps students familiarize with research methodology by being associated with their seniors on ongoing research programs. Role of IHEC

IHEC reviews and approves research proposals involving human participation, conducted at the Institute by an investigator of the Institute. It may consider academic project and/or dissertation proposed by an investigator from outside the Institute to be conducted at the Institute and academic project and/or dissertation proposed by an investigator from the Institute to be conducted outside the Institute. IHEC examines compliance with regulatory requirements, applicable guidelines and laws. It also monitors the research throughout the study and until and after the completion of study.

Submission of protocol for review

  • All proposals should be submitted to the Secretariat in the prescribed application form.
  • All relevant documents should be attached with the form
  • Date of meeting will be intimated to the researcher to remain present to offer clarifications if necessary.
  • The decision will be communicated in writing. If revision is required, the revised document with the required number of copies within stipulated time period.
