GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gotri, Vadodara is a 850 bedded publicly funded teaching hospital with excellent infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities. Additionally there are 90 beds across eight intensive care units (ICU) namely casualty, medical, cardiac, surgical, neonatal, pediatric, obstetric and respiratory medicine. The hospital houses fourteen major operation theatres (OT), ten of which are modular OTs, and four minor OTs. The hospital has isolation wards to contain and prevent the transmission of contagious diseases like, H1N1 (swine flu). The diagnostic facilities are provided by hospital’s Laboratory Services and imaging techniques including USG, MRI and CT scan. The Blood Centre has license for component separation.
Credentials of accomplished faculty enhance the reputation of the Institute. The hospital also provides super specialty services to its patients. The daily outdoor patient (OPD) footfall ranges from 1200 to1500 patients with 70% bed occupancy. 30-35 major and minor operations are performed every day.
The hospital not only provides valuable learning experiences required to become competent healthcare professionals to medical undergraduates and post graduates, but also to nursing and physiotherapy students.
Healthcare team of the Institute had played a heroic and indispensable role during the COVID-19 pandemic, working tirelessly and often under extremely challenging conditions. GMERS Hospital, Gotri, Vadodara was identified by the State Government as ‘Infectious Disease Control Hospital’ to handle COVID-19 pandemic. Beds, ventilators, liquid oxygen and other medical supplies were brought to assist the healthcare system. The testing facility was ramped up by establishing molecular testing laboratory, the RT PCR Centre. The hospital rolled out vaccination drive. Telemedicine became a crucial tool for non-COVID health issues. Department of Psychiatry launched initiatives to support pandemic created mental health challenges.
