Mentor-Mentee Program 

Purpose

The National Medical Commission (NMC) encourages mentor-mentee programs in Medical Colleges to foster a healthy, supportive environment with a suggested ratio of 1 mentor to 3 mentees and mentors selected from various disciplines.

Implementation

  • 1:3 mentor-to-mentee ratio is maintained as suggested by NMC.
  • Mentors are selected across all disciplines, and include all cadres (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Tutors).
  • Mentors are allotted to their mentees during the foundation course in Phase 1 of the MBBS course.
  • The mentor-mentee relationship continues throughout the student’s career, until the completion of the Compulsory Rotatory Medical Internship.
  • Regular mentor-mentee meetings are held including one with the parents.
